Closest Airports
It is possible to get to Freiburg from several airports:
BASEL-MULHOUSE-FREIBURG AIRPORT (EUROAIRPORT)
Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg airport (EuroAirport) is the closest airport at one hour’s drive away. It offers international scheduled and charter flights and can be easily reached from Freiburg via the Flixbus Airport Bus. By car, the airport can be reached via the A5 motorway in the direction of Basel, then at the Neuenburg interchange head towards Ottmarsheim/Mulhouse on the A35, or just before the Basel toll station, head towards Palmrheinbücke, Huningue and St. Louis.FRANKFURT AIRPORT
The Frankfurt Airport is around 200 km (approx. 125 miles) from Freiburg and easily accessible by rail from the Freiburg main train station via Karlsruhe to Stuttgart, then from there to the airport by S-Bahn (city rail).KARLSRUHE/BADEN-BADEN AIRPORT
The airport is around 100 km (approx. 60 miles) north of Freiburg between Baden-Baden and Karlsruhe. You can reach the airport by rail on the Rheintal line with a connecting bus. There are also shuttle bus connections directly from Freiburg bus station. The airport can also be reached by car on the A5 (Baden-Baden exit).ZURICH AIRPORT
Zurich Airport is around 150 km (approx. 95 miles) from Freiburg and there are good direct ICE connections between the Zurich and Freiburg main railway stations.
Train and Tram
Freiburg is on the Frankfurt – Karlsruhe – Freiburg – Basel ICE/IC line. From the Freiburg main train station, you can reach Messe Freiburg in around ten minutes using tram line 4.
Long-Distance Bus Connection
There are numerous long-distance coach services connecting Freiburg with many German and other European cities. The central bus station is located right by the main train station, where you can get a taxi or tram to Messe Freiburg in just ten minutes.
By Car
From the north and the south via the Rheintal motorway A5 Frankfurt-Basel, take the Freiburg-Mitte exit. It’s roughly a seven-minute drive from the Mitte motorway slip road to Messe Freiburg. The route is signposted.
From the east via the A81 Stuttgart-Singen and the B31 Donaueschingen, Titisee-Neustadt. For Schwarzwaldstrasse, follow in the direction of the Freiburg-Mitte slip road. The route to Messe Freiburg is signposted.
Parking: If you’re making your own way by car, Messe Freiburg has parking available with parking charges of €5 per day.
